The ELLIPAL X Card is a cold wallet in credit card format. It signs transactions offline when you tap it against your phone — no battery, no charging, no firmware updates.
Tap to sign over NFC
You build the transaction in the ELLIPAL app and hold the card against your phone. The card signs inside its own chip, and only the signed result leaves it. The private key stays in the card.
Because the card has no battery and draws its power from the phone during the tap, there is nothing to charge and nothing that loses capacity over time.
CC EAL6+ secure element
The key is generated inside the secure element and never leaves it — not to your phone, not to the app. CC EAL6+ is the chip class also used in passports and bank cards.
Access is protected by a PIN of at least six and up to sixteen digits. After ten incorrect entries the card erases itself.
Setup through the Starter
The set includes the offline device called X Card Starter. It generates the seed phrase separately from your phone and writes the private keys onto the card. The seed is shown once on the Starter — write it down and keep it offline.
The card itself does not store the seed phrase, it holds the derived keys. The whole setup takes one to three minutes and runs without an internet connection.
The physical twin of your existing wallet
The X Card follows the BIP39 standard and BIP44 derivation paths. You can import an existing seed phrase from MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Ledger, Trezor or another compatible wallet without moving funds or opening new accounts.
The same is true the other way around: your seed can be used in any other BIP39 wallet at any time. Nothing locks you into a closed system.
Expandable to several cards
Further X Cards can be added at any time. Give an additional card the same seed and it serves as a physical backup with its own PIN. Or give each card its own wallet and keep savings, daily spending and trading separate.
Supported coins and applications
Through the ELLIPAL app for Android and iOS the X Card manages more than 10,000 tokens across over 45 blockchains. NFTs on Ethereum and Polygon are supported, decentralised applications through WalletConnect.
Swap, staking and buy services inside the app are provided by independent third parties. ELLIPAL is a self-custody hardware wallet provider, does not custody funds, does not give investment advice and does not guarantee returns.
Requires a phone with NFC
You need a smartphone with NFC and the ELLIPAL app for Android or iOS. Without an NFC capable device the card cannot be addressed.
