What is the Avalon Q and how loud is it really?
The Avalon Q is a full 90 TH/s miner built for living spaces out of the box — no conversion, no shroud needed. Depending on the mode it runs between roughly 45 dB (ECO) and 65 dB (full power): in ECO mode that's quiet-fridge territory, at full load more like a clearly audible fan. For a miner of this class, that's a different world from the 70–80 dB of classic ASIC units.
Can I run the Avalon Q on solar surplus?
That's exactly what makes it popular: power draw is adjustable between roughly 800 and 1,600 W, controlled via app. You can match the miner to your surplus window — ramp up at midday, throttle in the evening — instead of feeding solar power into the grid for a few cents. The waste heat warms the room it sits in.
What is the Avalon Nano 3S?
The Avalon Nano 3S is Canaan's compact desktop device: 6 TH/s at 140 W, fully assembled, set up via app — no DIY project like the open-source miners. It's the most convenient entry into the block lottery, which is why it also lives in our solo miners category alongside Bitaxe and NerdQaxe.
How do I control an Avalon miner?
Via the Avalon Family app or your browser: connect Wi-Fi or LAN, find the device in the app, enter your pool and payout address — setup is deliberately plug-and-play. Power modes, temperatures and hashrate can be monitored and adjusted from your phone at any time afterwards.
Do Antminer fan shrouds fit an Avalon?
No, the cases differ — and the Avalon Q doesn't need a shroud anyway, it's quiet from the factory. If you want to convert a classic Avalon ASIC: contact us with the model, we'll check the dimensions and can potentially print a matching shroud.
