Seedsigner – Air-Gapped Bitcoin Signing Device

The Seedsigner is an open-source Bitcoin signing device based on the Raspberry Pi Zero. It stores no data, has no WiFi, and no Bluetooth – transactions are signed exclusively via QR codes. This makes it one of the most secure and transparent ways to store Bitcoin.

Pre-built or DIY?

Pre-assembled: Seedsigner with Open Pill or Open Pill Mini case – unbox, insert microSD, start signing.

DIY Kit: Raspberry Pi Zero, camera, display, case, and screws in one package. Assembly takes about 15 minutes. No soldering needed with the pre-soldered header variant.

Individual parts: Raspberry Pi Zero, ZeroCam or standard camera, Waveshare display, GPIO header, Open Pill case in black or orange, knurled nuts, and QR code cards – orderable individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a Seedsigner and a hardware wallet?
The Seedsigner stores no keys and has no wireless connection. You enter your seed via camera (QR code) each time. Hardware wallets like Trezor or BitBox store the key internally. Both are secure – the Seedsigner is more transparent because it's fully open source.

Do I need programming skills?
No. You flash the pre-built firmware onto a microSD card and insert it. With the DIY kit, assembly is purely mechanical – no soldering, no code.

Can I use the Seedsigner for multisig?
Yes, the Seedsigner supports multisig setups. You can use it as one of multiple signers in a multisig wallet.
