It depends on where the miner will be placed, how quiet it needs to be, and how much heat output you want. For the desktop, I recommend a Bitaxe — a small solo miner that draws a lottery ticket for a block every 10 minutes. For heating, Canaan Avalon or Antminer units with my fan shrouds let you direct the heat through a duct exactly where you need it.

A stock ASIC miner runs at about 75–82 dB — comparable to a vacuum cleaner. With my fan shrouds and an exhaust duct routed outside, the noise drops to the level of the external inline fan, roughly 40–50 dB. That’s about as loud as a quiet refrigerator. You can vent the hot air outside in summer or use it for heating in winter.

A fan shroud mounts onto the fan side of an ASIC miner. It channels the hot exhaust or cool intake air through a duct — ideal for making home mining quieter and more efficient. I 3D-print all shrouds in-house from PETG.
