For getting started and for heating setups, the S19 models (S19, S19j Pro, S19k Pro) are the pragmatic choice: affordable, proven in 24/7 operation, and easy to silence with our fan shrouds — the S19k Pro offers the best hashrate-to-power ratio of the family. If you're after maximum efficiency, go for the S21 generation (S21, S21+, S21 XP): more hashrate per watt means more earnings at the same electricity cost.

Depending on the model, continuous draw is roughly 2 to 6 kW — the S19k Pro at the lower end, the S21 XP class at the top. A single S19 runs on a dedicated household outlet that isn't shared with other heavy loads; for stronger models or multiple units, have an electrician check the circuit — continuous load is a different animal than a kettle. Remember: every watt becomes heat you can use in winter.

70–80 dB stock — like a vacuum cleaner that never stops. With a fan shroud and a hose routing the exhaust outside or into the next room, it gets much more bearable. Replace the stock fans entirely with an external inline fan and you'll get below 40 dB — at that point even the basement under your bedroom is fine.

LAN cable to your router, power on, wait a moment — then find the miner's IP address in your router's device list and open it in a browser (laptop or phone on the same network). In the web interface, enter your pool and worker name under "Miner Configuration", save, done. Within a few minutes you'll see the first accepted shares on the dashboard.

Refurbished units are used miners that have been tested and reconditioned — considerably cheaper, and since an ASIC doesn't lose hashrate with age, often the more sensible choice for beginners and heating setups. The condition is stated on every product page in our shop. Regular maintenance (dust, thermal paste) keeps both variants alive for years; if a board does fail, there are spare parts.

The Bitmain stock firmware works out of the box and is perfectly fine for normal pool mining. Braiins OS is the open alternative with autotuning: it regulates each chip individually to squeeze out more efficiency, or throttles the miner cleanly to a target power — handy for heating setups and dynamic electricity tariffs. We carry control boards with Braiins OS pre-installed, so no flashing required.

At typical grid rates of 30–40 ct/kWh, mining purely for profit is difficult — that's the honest answer. The math gets interesting with your own solar surplus, dynamic tariffs, or when the waste heat replaces a heater: then the miner counts twice, as a heat source and as a sats source. Run the numbers for your own setup before you buy.
